Cal Dept. of Fish & Game brought two orphaned bear cubs to Sagehen for reintroduction on Wednesday.
We placed them in a den where they will hopefully spend the winter, emerging to become wild bears in the spring.
The bears are both females. One cub came from South Lake Tahoe and was discovered by the rehab facility staff.
The other came from Markleeville, where it was discovered while still very, very tiny. Both cubs apparently lost their mothers, but no one knows how.
