Dr. Jennifer Gee, a fellow California field station manager, is using an interesting fund-raising model to finance her research: crowd-funding.
A number of websites (discussed in article) now help artists, film makers and others publicize their projects and solicit donations from interested members of the public.
Donors generally receive some sort of award connected to the project, helping them feel more connected to the final product. For instance, Dr. Gee' most popular prime is an e-book about her research project.
