We regret to announce that we must cancel the annual Sagehen Summer Science Speaker Series this year.
The event conflicts with a variety of construction & maintenance projects that will be occurring throughout the summer, as well as heavy presentation area use that overlaps with the evening schedule.
We will definitely be back in 2011. In the meantime, you can catch up on some of the past presentations at Sagehen TV.

Flora & fauna report.
The snow & cold weather has delayed spring here at the station. Mushrooms are lingering & wildflowers are lagging, but the Camas Lilies are going off in the lower Sagehen meadows below Hwy-89.
Working on the Leopold cabin roof, Kevin Starr saw a pine marten across the creek the day before yesterday. This is exciting--martens are not often spotted in the basin these days.
Right now, the only food around is in the meadows along the stream, so at least one of the bear cubs is hanging around the station, constrained from spreading out by deep snow at elevation. There are lots of forbs out now, & the scats we're seeing have more volume, so hopefully the little guys are putting on some weight--the one we saw on 5-28-10 looked pathetically skinny :(
